Welcome to Sunderland Recovery College. We wish you a wonderful life.
Check out our courses designed to get you feeling positive!
Join us for Book Club, where we will explore a wide range of books.
These are from local libraries and you will be given the chance to take them home to read and then discuss at our meeting each month.
The Book Club is for all abilities and will be hosted by Kelsey, who has struggled most of her life with reading and spelling.
The Book Club will also be a chance to meet new people and learn about the Recovery College.
So, if you’re a book lover, or someone who is eager to take on a new hobby, we would love to see you!

Participating in a support group can offer a range of psychological and emotional benefits for individuals facing mental health challenges such as panic attacks, depression, anxiety, or other conditions. These groups provide a safe and empathetic environment where individuals can share experiences, gain insights, and foster meaningful connections. Key benefits include:
Reduced Feelings of Isolation: Hearing from others with similar struggles helps participants realise they are not alone, which can significantly diminish feelings of loneliness and alienation.
Emotional Validation and Acceptance: Support groups offer a non-judgmental space where individuals feel understood and accepted, reducing the fear of stigma or criticism.
Decreased Psychological Distress: Regular engagement can help alleviate symptoms of depression, anxiety, and emotional fatigue by promoting coping strategies and emotional resilience.
Enhanced Self-Awareness and Insight: Listening to others’ experiences can provide new perspectives and encourage personal reflection, leading to greater self-understanding.
Improved Coping Skills: Members often share practical advice and strategies that have helped them manage their symptoms, offering valuable tools for others to apply in their own lives.
Sense of Empowerment: Being part of a group can foster a sense of agency and hope, encouraging individuals to take proactive steps in their recovery journey.
